Objective: Exploring into deeper color theory concepts and how it relates to product design and marketing. Students are to design two products and create their own brand / logo for a coffee company and design the coffee cup. Then students are to design a vinyl record album cover on chipboard. Album cover may be designed for an actual band or music artist or make one up.
Assignment:
Think about your “Coffee Company” and THEME
Think about colors schemes and marketing
Draw your product design on the paper template FIRST
Once your practice drawing is complete, then get a blank coffee cup from Mrs. Domingues
Use pencil, sharpies, markers, colored pencils
Must have coffee company name/logo
Concept art for coffee company needs to fill entire cup...meaning you need to draw on the entire coffee cup!

Vinyl Record Album Cover Design: Assignment:
Recreate a vinyl record cover for your favorite music group
Look at other record covers for inspiration
You may use certain designs for inspiration, but I’d like for your work to be your own
You may create a new album name
Start sketching ideas on paper template
Then get 12x12 chipboard from Mrs. D
Use pencils, colored pencils, markers, sharpies for this assignment
Vinyl cover is worth 20 points
Grading: 20 points each (coffee cup and vinyl record album cover) 40 points total
• Time, care, effort and creativity put into the assignment (assignment doesn't seem rushed) • Individual art skill development • Student created their own coffee shop company logo and decorated a majority of the coffee cup with doodles and drawings • Vinyl Record: create own band or re-designed music album cover so it's their own creative drawings • Student did not copy a drawing from the internet • Student applied shading techniques we learned in class (doesn't look like a coloring sheet) • Student used class time wisely to complete the assignment (stayed on-task and not distracted by devices) • Student submitted assignment in a timely manner
