Positive/Negative Space Zen Doodle
Overview/Objective
Develop a better understanding of the elements of art (the ingredients to make art) and principles of design (the tools to make art). Students will develop an understanding how to creatively think. Student will develop an understanding of abstract art using elements of art and principles of design.
Materials:
Black construction paper
Drawing paper
Scissors
Glue
Sharpie
Pencil
Eraser
Assignment Steps:
Use the large 12x18 black construction paper as your base
Draw the outline of your animal on drawing paper
Carefully cut the outline of the animal out with scissors
Save the cut out of the animal.
Glue the drawing paper on the big sheet of construction paper
Glue the cut-out silhouette of the animal on the drawing paper and construction paper
Zen Doodle on the 9x12 drawing paper
Zen Doodle on the cut-out of the animal (that is glued to the black construction paper)
Take a photo of your finished work.
Submit the image in NEO/Canvas for grading.
Students will be graded on technique (your drawing skills), your effort, your creativity, and your time management.
Grading Rubric: 30 points total
