Overview/Objective Students will gain a better understanding of image manipulation with the use of Photoshop Elements. Students will learn the tools used in Photoshop Elements to help them meet the image editing requirements of this assignment. Students will learn image editing terminology. Students will learn about juxtaposition and surrealism photography. Students will learn the concept of post visualization, using elements in images to create a final product with a partner. Students will collaborate to create a set of images. Students will collaborate to create an image slideshow of final images using iMovie. Students will present their slideshow to the class. This week, we will learn how to use Photoshop Elements to manipulate images, and create, wild, imaginative, and surreal imagery. We will visit the work of photographer Jerry Uelsmann for inspiration.
Assignment: Manipulation • Working with a partner, you are to submit a series of images which will demonstrate your image editing techniques and manipulation using Photoshop Elements. • You and your partner are to work on the image ping pong assignment and create a slideshow in iMovie of the progression of the images and also includes the original images. • You will choose 5 of your best images to share with your partner, and your partner will choose 5 of his or her best images as well. • Use Photoshop to copy and paste elements of the partner’s images into your own image and share the image with the partner who will then add to the image using the selected images. The partners will exchange the images 5 times. The progression of the images will be presented as an iMovie. • There should be a total of 10 images, 5 images you manipulated, and 5 that your partner manipulated. • We will work with the tools were learned from our retouching/colorizing/restoring project such as the lasso tool, healing brush tool, and clone stamp tool.
