Module 2: Smartphone Photography Continued
Overview We continued to learn about iPhone/iPad photography. We learned about lighting and exposure techniques on our iPads. We worked with natural lighting and reflectors.
Statement I enjoyed working with the reflectors and using the gold reflectors even though it was super bright.
Module 3: History of Photography, Camera Functions, and Exposure Triad
Overview
We learned about the history of photography. We learned about the camera functions on the Canon Rebel T6 cameras. We learned about the exposure triad: aperture, IOS, and shutter speed.
Module 4: Elements of Art & Principles of Design
Overview We learned about the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. We learned how to apply those terms to our photography. We took photos for the 7 elements of art and 7 principles of design terms to show examples.
Statement Which art term did you like taking photos for? I enjoyed photographing the principle of design of balance because I like having photos that show symmetry.

Module 5: Photoshop
Overview We learned how to navigate the workspace in Adobe Photoshop on our iPads and Desktop version. We learned all the various tools and how to use the layers palette. We learned how to select areas in an image, copy and paste those items, copy layers. We created a sandwich, pizza, and veggie person in Photoshop.
Statement I enjoyed making the Veggie Person, like Mr. Potato Head. I had fun making a veggie person tourist.

Module 6: Photoshop Continued
Overview We were introduced to color correction in Photoshop. We learned how to color correct an image. We learned how to create a black and white image. We learned how to make an image sepia toned. We learned how to bring color back to a black and white image (hand coloring, watercolor effect). Those can be done with layer adjustments. We also learned how to restore an image by using the clone stamp tool and the healing brush tool. We restored an old image and colorized a black and white image.
Statement: I enjoyed colorizing the black and white image so it had a watercolor effect on the image.

Module 7: Netflix's Stranger Things Inspired Image
Overview We took photos outside for this assignment. We used SnapSeed on one image to create a creepy eerie version of the image. We opened both the original image and the eerie image in Photoshop. One image was right side up, one was upside down, similar to the Stranger Things poster. We had to hand draw/create our own creature for the upside down world. We had to write a backstory about the creature.

Module 8: Surreal Image
OVERVIEW: We looked at traditional and digital surreal images. We learned to use the selection tools, copy and paste, and eraser tool if needed to create a surreal, dream-like image.
STATEMENT: What are your strengths? What are your areas to improve?
Module 10: Double Exposures
Overview We learned about traditional and digital double exposures. We learned how to create layer masks and layer blending modes in Photoshop. We had to create a series of double exposure images.
Statement I used my own portraits and download landscape images from Unsplash. I wanted very dream-like double exposure series. I like the image I created of the fox and Yellowstone. I like that I experimented with flipping the image vertically. I could improve on the assignment by exploring more image options for the layer blending modes.

Module 11: Magazine Cover
Overview: In this module we learned how to design a magazine cover. We learned the design terms such as masthead and magazine deck. We learned about the text tool and how to change fonts (type, color, and size). We learned about adding guidelines in the full version of Photoshop. We applied Photoshop skills to create a magazine cover. We designed a travel poster and did a fun vacation doodle. Again, learning about the text tool and the brush tool in Photoshop. Statement: What did you like about the project? I liked that we could design a cover for a magazine of our choice. What didn't you like about the project? It took me a while to find the perfect font.

Module 12: Pop Art Portraits
Overview: We learned about studio lighting and the artist Andy Warhol. We took portraits with studio lights (key light, fill light, and reflectors). We learned about Pop Art and created 4 pop art versions of our portraits in Photoshop. Statement: What did you like about the project? I enjoyed adding the bright, vivid colors to the Pop Art portrait. What didn't you like about the project? The studio lights were hard to work with.
Module 13: Landscape Photography
OVERVIEW This module we learned about landscape photography. We learned how to apply HDR (high dynamic range) using SnapSeed and Photoshop filters. We learned how to make a panoramic image with our phones. We learned how to make a panoramic image in Photoshop using PhotoMerge technique. We looked at the work of professional travel photographer, Erin Sullivan, and the miniature landscape images. We photographed our own miniature landscape images.
STATEMENT What did you like about the project? I enjoyed working on the miniature landscape image: using shallow depth of field to make the mini figure look life-size. What didn't you like about the project? The photo merge in Photoshop was frustrating with the dated technology.

Module 14: Reflection Portrait
OVERVIEW: For this assignment, we had to work with a photo of our younger self and a recent photo of ourselves. We had to superimpose the images together to make it appear that our younger version of ourself belonged in the recent image of ourself. We had to use layer masking, selection tool, brush tool to conceal or reveal the masked image, copy/paste commands, and color correct the images and add any details to make the image appear more realistic.
STATEMENT: What were the images that you chose and why? I chose the image of my daughter's senior portrait and a portrait of my daughter at 4 years old. I thought the two images would work well together since they were both sitting down.

Module 15: Food Photography
OVERVIEW: This week we learned about food photography. We built gingerbread houses and photographed them in a photo lighting tent. We photographed food that we brought in. We photographed holiday treats as well. We had to color correct these images and we had the choice of putting all three images together in a collage. STATEMENT: What did you like about the project? I enjoyed building the gingerbread house and photographing it in the photo tent. What didn't you like about the project? Working with the food items made a mess.
Module 16: 12-month Calendar
OVERVIEW: (Tell me what we learned from the module.) In this module, we learned about how to create a cohesive, themed 12-month calendar using Photoshop or Google Docs. We had to use our own photos from the class or personal photos.
STATEMENT: (Tell me about your calendar theme, 12-months or individual poster and why...give details.) For my calendar, I chose to use images that I took for assignments from the class and photos I took outside of class. I wanted to use images that I knew I'd be happy to see each month; all of my own artwork. * Take screenshots of your calendar, place the images in a PicCollage. Create a collage with 12 images and upload the image here to showcase your calendar design.
