Materials: 12x18 drawing paper Glue sticks Strips of: Paper bag, black construction paper, and newspaper Micron art pen (or fine-tip Sharpie) Pencil Eraser Colored Pencils White Charcoal Pencil (or white colored pencil)
Steps: Shred strips of paper: newspaper, construction paper, and paper bag Glue strips randomly on the 12x18 drawing paper Wait to the glue to dry Sketch out what you want to draw on the paper (please fill the entire 12x18 paper) When the drawing lands in the different sections of paper use the different drawing tools: Black construction paper: white colored pencil or white charcoal pencil Paper Bag: Colored Pencils Newspaper: Mircon Pen Drawing Paper: Pencil
Use different shading techniques and colored pencil techniques (layering colors) Shading techniques: hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, blending, scribbling
Drawing Choice: still life of flowers in a vase, or still life of fruits/vegetables, or draw a portrait of person or animal, or draw a cartoon character.
Mixed Media Drawing Grading: Student used various paper strips on one 12x18 piece of paper (glued) -paper included drawing paper, construction paper, newspaper, paper bag, Student used pencil, colored pencils, pens, white colored pencil or charcoal pencil to complete drawing Student drew either portrait of person or character, or animal or nature, or still life of personal choice (food, flowers, or other school appropriate objects) Student used shading techniques that were demonstrated during class Student used colored pencil layering and coloring techniques that were demonstrated during class Assignment submitted in a timely manner Student used class time wisely to complete assignment
