Exquisite Corpse Drawing Materials Needed: Pencil, creative mindset
Directions:
Write your name, period, and date on this paper. Fold the paper on the lines (in thirds) on the other side.
In BOX 1, you will draw a head of a person, thing, animal, reptile, being, creature, alien, monster. How many eyes does it have? Ears? Nose or snout? Horns? Scales, fur, hair? You will have 2 minutes to draw the head of your creature.
Fold up your paper so that BOX 2 is visible.
Pass your paper to the person to your right. DO NOT OPEN UP THE PAPER. The head is to remain a secret. Only BOX 2 should be visible.
For BOX 2, draw a body for a person, thing, animal, reptile, being, creature, alien, monster. Does it have arms, many arms? A big or little belly? Scales, tentacles, fur, claws, fins? You will have 2 minutes to draw the body of your creature.
Fold up your paper so that BOX 3 is visible.
Pass your paper to the person to your right. DO NOT OPEN UP THE PAPER. The head and body are to remain a secret. Only BOX 3 should be visible.
For BOX 3, draw the legs for a person, thing, animal, reptile, being, creature, alien, monster. Does it have legs, many legs? Long or short? Scales, tentacles, fur, claws, fins, tail? You will have 2 minutes to draw the legs of your creature.
Return the paper to the owner of the paper.
Open up the paper and see the final drawing of the creature you all created.
Essential Questions: Why did we do this drawing? What’s the point? What did you learn from this exercise? What would you do differently? How did you react to the final result of the drawing? Were you surprised with the final result of the drawing?
Briefly tell me about the creature: What would you name the creature? Where does your creature live? What does your creature eat? How long does it live for? Does it travel in packs or by itself?
