Charcoal Drawing Objective Students will work on composition and learn contrast. Students will be introduced to use of charcoal sticks, pencils, kneaded erasers, and blending tools.
Procedure Students will create a charcoal drawing using organic/natural shapes. There will be a push/pull effect of contrast, varying from light to dark. Students will need to be mindful of the composition of their drawing: creating eye movement, rhythm, contrast, and emphasis. We will be doing our charcoal drawing of organic/natural shapes on 11”x14” drawing paper. Charcoal can be very messy. We may need to use a form of fixodent on the charcoal drawings; hairspray would be the easiest. We will learn charcoal drawing techniques, blending techniques, and shading.
